  1. Cut out the images provided on the last two pages of the printable.
  2. For each puzzle, set or glue the appropriate images into each square on the grid. Remember, each image can only appear once per row and once per column.

    2. For the medium puzzle, you'll only need the horseshoe, saddle, horse, and boot images.
    3. For the hard puzzle, you'll need all the images used for the other puzzles and the apples.

Extension Activities

Keep the fun going all day long when you use the activity sheet for other fun puzzles and challenges.

  • Instead of gluing the images onto the grids, set them in their spots so you can reuse the grid. Find and cut out other horse-related images to see if you can fit them into the puzzle too.
  • Get the most mileage from your printouts by using the blank grids to complete standard sudoku puzzles first. For the three-by-three grid you can use the numbers 1, 2, and 3 or the letters A, B, and C.
  • Challenge yourself to find as many correct solutions as possible since there can be more than one.
  • Use the grid to draw a picture of your favorite kind of horse. Print a photo and cut it to the same size as the entire grid. Draw the same size grid on your photo. Start drawing on a blank grid one square at a time by copying the matching square on your photo.
